YUMA, AZ – (June 1, 2017) – Gowan Company is pleased to announce the Federal registration of an important new tool in the fight against mites in hops. Magister® SC Miticide has been granted a supplemental label for use in hops.
Gowan Field Development Representative, Gary Melchior said “Gowan is excited about this new use for MAGISTER® SC as it provides growers with a new alternative for mite control in hops. What sets MAGISTER® SC apart from other miticides is disease control. In addition to excellent mite control, MAGISTER® SC also controls powdery mildew.”
MAGISTER® SC belongs to the METI class of chemistry, which provides broad-spectrum control against spider mites and Eriophyid mites. In addition, it is active against both immature and adult mites and reduces egg hatch. Using MAGISTER® SC as a miticide will also provide powdery mildew control in between fungicide sprays. MAGISTER® SC is proposed as a FRAC group 39 fungicide, which is completely new in hops.
MAGISTER® SC has also been granted a supplemental label for all tree nuts (in addition to almonds currently on the label). Gowan is pursuing approval for additional tree nuts for use in California.
