Gowan Company Announces North American Licensing Agreement of New Insecticide Active Ingredient Spiropidion from Syngenta

YUMA, Arizona, December 10, 2020 - Gowan Company, L.L.C. has entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with Syngenta to market and sell a patented spiropidion 300 SC formulation in the United States and Canada. Syngenta recently announced the global launch of spiropidion, an innovative new insecticide active ingredient. The technology helps growers defend a broad range of crops against damaging and difficult-to-control sucking pests in a targeted, effective and environmentally sustainable manner.

Spiropidion is the result of our commitment to bring two new and sustainable active ingredients to the market every year,” said Jeff Cecil, head of marketing, Syngenta Crop Protection, North America. “Its development also reflects our deep understanding and anticipation of grower needs. We are pleased to be collaborating with Gowan to deliver this solution to the market.”

Gowan’s Muddy Boots philosophy is to support growers and retailers in meeting the challenges of controlling destructive weeds, insects, or pathogens infesting crops. With the addition of Spiropidion to the Gowan portfolio, Gowan expands its core product offering and allows the company to serve better the growers’ needs in crop production. Regulatory submissions are planned for late 2022 in the U.S. and Canada and Syngenta anticipates product launch by 2025.
