March 30, 2007 CALGARY, AB — Gowan Company reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining critical products for the tree fruit market by supporting Imidan’s registration in Canada.
“Fruit growers have relied on Imidan for control of many insect pests. We’re committed to helping fruit growers use this valuable technology in a safe, effective manner,” says Melissa McQueen, Canadian Business Manager with Gowan at Calgary, Alberta.
Imidan is a broad-spectrum insecticide that provides effective control of devastating worm pests that can damage many fruits and vegetables. Imidan uniquely combines broad-spectrum control of damaging pests while being friendly to most beneficials.
In tree fruits, key pests include Oriental fruit moth, coddling moth and plum curculio. Imidan fits well at the petal fall stage or later with 12 to 14 days of residual control. Imidan is effective on blueberry spanworm in blueberries, grape berry moth in grapes, and Colorado potato beetle in potatoes. As a Group 1B product, Imidan is a key rotational insecticide in a resistance management plan.
Imidan is distributed through N.M. Bartlett’s and United Agri-Products, and is available from leading farm supply retailers.
