YUMA, Ariz. (September 19, 2006) – Gowan Company announces the addition of Yukon herbicide for use in sugar cane, field corn, field corn grown for seed and grain sorghum. Yukon provides the unique combination of the best post-emergence sedge control available with effective control of important broadleaf weeds such as velvetleaf, cocklebur, ragweed, lambsquarters and waterhemp. In addition, Yukon controls broadleaf weeds demonstrating resistance or tolerance to glyphosate and ALS-inhibiting products.
“Yukon gives growers a potent tool for cost-effective control of nutsedge and tough broadleaf weeds,” says Nick Alonso, product manager for Gowan. “This wide application window provides the most flexibility for field corn, corn grown for seed and sorghum. This can be especially important when weeds demonstrating resistance or tolerance to glyphosate-containing herbicides are present.”
And now, Yukon is labeled for use on sugarcane, providing growers with best-in-class control of sedges with the added benefit of proven control of tough broadleaf weeds. Yukon may be tankmixed with 2,4-D to achieve a potent and economical tool for postemergence control of labeled weeds.
The addition of Yukon herbicide expands the Gowan Company family of products. “Our mission is to continually provide producers with top quality and effective crop protection products,” Alonso says. Yukon will be marketed by Gowan Company on behalf of the partnership with Nissan Chemical, formed in 2004.
