YUMA, Ariz. (September 1, 2005) —Sandea® Herbicide received EPA label approval for additional crops. Sandea Herbicide (active ingredient halosulfuron-methyl) provides unsurpassed control of yellow and purple nutsedge, as well as key broadleaf weeds. A proven herbicide in vegetables, the Sandea Herbicide label expansion includes cotton (except Calif.), popcorn, field corn, sorghum, turfgrass sod and seed farms, fallow ground and sugarcane.
Sandea Herbicide will be widely available throughout the U.S. and will also be the brand name that replaces Sempra® by Monsanto® in California and Florida. “Sandea is an excellent herbicide for purple and yellow nutsedge problems. It also controls key broadleaf weeds such as redroot pigweed, cocklebur and sunflower. Sandea is one of the few vegetable herbicides for nutsedge so it can be a very valuable tool.” said Kory Wheeler, product manager for Gowan Company. Sandea Herbicide is also registered on sweet corn, dry beans, snap beans, cucurbits, fruiting vegetables and asparagus.
Sandea Herbicide offers flexible application timing with preemergence and postemergence application options, plus banded applications. Low use rates and no requirement for mechanical incorporation make it easy to use.
